Siow Ying earned her Ph.D. in Food Science from Cornell University, a M.S. in Food Science from Louisiana State University, and B.S. in Food Science & Technology from Louisiana State University. She also hold a Professional Diploma in Food Safety & Quality from University College Dublin.
